But, at once, he called to them, “Courage! It is I; don’t be afraid!” Then Jesus got into the boat with them, and the wind died down. They were completely astonished, for they had not really grasped the fact of the loaves; their minds were dull.
REFLECTION:
We need to rest after long hours of work. The body could not sustain the grind without pause. That is why Jesus sent His disciples away to the other side as well as the people who could not get enough of Him.
Then He energized Himself with the best possible activity, that is, prayer. Prayer makes us light. It enabled Jesus to walk through the waters while His disciples who were preoccupied with rowing to a safe harbor strained against
the wind. It makes us wonder whether instead of continuously struggling against the currents of life, we might as well just pause, pray and gather our strengths for another day.
Jesus, now well-recollected and refreshed commanded the elements to be still. His inner peace influenced His surroundings.
